I don’t know why I’ve never come across this before in my readings about Ground Zero, but here is an amazing hi-res photo of the World Trade Center site on September 23, 2001. [via]

According to the photo credits on Wikimedia Commons, this picture was taken by NOAA’s Cessna Citation Jet from an altitude of 3,300 feet using a Leica/LH systems RC30 camera.

Just 12 days after the terrorist attacks, you can already see how much cleanup was done and also how much cleanup has yet to begin. It’s beautiful and tragic all at once.
