Sometime before 4PM today, a US Airways flight (#1549) made a controlled landing into New York City’s Hudson River after it was initially reported that it had hit a bird (or more). The airplane was an Airbus 320 with 148 passengers and 5-6 crew aboard, all of whom were rescued safely out from the freezing water.

You can watch live video from the scene courtesy of CNN. At the time of this post, you can see them dragging the plane along and attempting to keep it afloat.

Also, Flickr is starting to get some photos of the event (just make sure you’re sorting by date). And CNN’s Twitter is a good place to start if you really can’t be bothered to read anything more than a few sentences long (or if you’re on a mobile device).
