For those of us with an AT&T-branded BlackBerry Bold (9000), you’ll know how annoying it is that you cannot choose which network mode you want to be on. By default, the BlackBerry OS on the Bold is set to 3G which drastically reduces battery life because the Bold is constantly searching for the strongest 3G signal — even when the 3G signal is non-existent or just flat-out sucks.

But with the newest Bold OS update (, you can now choose to be on 2G only which will help improve battery life if all you’re doing is BBMing where a fast network speed isn’t necessarily needed.
