If there ever was a reason to keep your contact list clean and up to date in Gmail, this is it. Google announced today that Gmail is rolling out a new feature that allows you to make free US calls to landlines from your computer. Skype, the main company in this area of VoIP, charges for this feature (not including 1800 numbers) and is set up to lose significantly in this respect.

The only question now is how long Google will make these calls free. They say it’s for the remainder of 2010, but who knows…they might just front the bill indefinitely.
