Back in the early days of Timbuk2, they made their bags out of 2 main materials — either ballistic nylon or waxed canvas. Waxed canvas was the tougher and less shiny of the two materials and though I owned both, I always personally loved the waxed canvas one a bit more.

I forget exactly why, but over the years, the waxed canvas material disappeared from the site and was replaced by other materials which are probably just as good — but surely didn’t have the feel or look of the classic waxed canvas.

But this morning, I got word from Timbuk2 that the waxed canvas is back — and in black, brown (oak) and dark green (olive)! This is quite possibly the best news I’ve heard from the company in a long time and it’s great to see that they’re going back to some of their roots for inspiration. Can’t wait to get my hands on one again!

Head on over to Timbuk2 to get started with making your own waxed canvas bag.
