Opacity posted some additional images of the abandoned Kings Park Psychiatric Center recently that were taken in Winter 2005. The entire facility is one of the largest remaining abandoned psychiatric hospitals in existence and my trip there this past winter was one of the coolest urban exploration excursions I’ve ever taken.
Opacity’s photos remind me of the enormous size of this complex and make me want to go back to explore the rest of the facilities’ buildings. It’s so easy to get in to, who wants to come?
it wasn’t that easy, man. if norman and i were any fatter, that window wouldn’t have been an option!
No security there, so it was relatively easier than most.
I need to go there.
Hi
This reminds me of the explorations photographer david maisel made in a psychiatric institution in Oregan..except what he found was EXTREMELY different.
Locked up were the ashes of dead patients, stored in copper tins. Crazy chemical reactions had caused the materials to react, and he’s documented what he saw!
Check it out…stunning!!!
Thanks to BLDGBLOG for it…
