This is cool: National Geographic has an interactive map of popular surnames in the US. You can zoom in and see how many Smith’s or Williams’s or Lee’s or Johnson’s live in a particular area. If you’re having a kid and need a naming scheme, I would suggest using this map to reduce the odds of your kid having the same name as somebody else — especially if your last name is Smith. [via]
