On Tuesday, Michael Bloomberg announced the official taxi of tomorrow, a Nissan NV200 van that will eventually take over NYC streets beginning 2014.

I’m indifferent to the design except for ONE thing: THOSE REAR TRUNK DOORS ARE GOING TO BE A HUGE PROBLEM FOR CYCLISTS. Look at how they swing out way beyond the width of the van itself. Even Ford Econoline vans don’t do this — and from my observation, neither do any Dodge or Chevrolet van used by delivery personnel. Why hasn’t this door design flaw been addressed?!
