As a companion piece for an article about the family-owned Wiffle Ball factory in Connecticut, The Wall Street journal has dedicated an entire Photojournal post to the making of the iconic Wiffle Ball.

In the article profiling the Mullany family and their family-owned business, I’ve learned that every single Wiffle Ball and bat are manufactured in that one factory and that the business has had steady sales despite not advertising their product for over a half century! And funny enough, the family doesn’t exactly know the precise reason behind the Wiffle Ball’s spin. Although people have written scientific papers on it, the family doesn’t really care to know why it does what it does so well. They just like making and selling the Wiffle Balls.

An interesting read for the weekend. :)
