Ok, this will just be a bunch of links that I think are important to note.

First, check out this amazing photo of Hurricane Irene taken from the International Space Station. If you’ve been living under a rock, Hurricane Irene is projected to hit NYC and the surrounding area sometime on Saturday evening. New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo has already declared a state of emergency for the area.

At the moment, Irene is a category 3 hurricane and the NYC Office of Emergency Management is basically telling people to make supply kits and prepare to not have water and electricity. Basically, this sounds like it’s going to be serious. Something tells me this won’t be terrible.

WNYC has put online an interactive map that shows which areas are most prone to flooding. Evacuation procedures will follow if these areas go under water.

Lastly, and this is the craziest news of them all, Mayor Bloomberg and the MTA are going to shut down mass transit completely on Saturday. SAY WUT.
