Not this past weekend, but the weekend before that I venture over to Governor’s Island for the first time to attend the 5Boro PicNYC, a 2-day extravaganza of food and live music from some of NYC’s best independent food sources. I was thoroughly surprised at how good it was. The lines moved fast (thanks to assembly line-like food making — GoogaMooga could learn something from this!!) and just about everything was free after admission except for a few food trucks lined up on one end of the park circle. The atmosphere and weather were perfect and the crowds weren’t pushy at all. And because the 5Boro PicNYC only took up a portion of Governor’s Island, you had the chance to explore the rest of that beautiful island on foot and bike after you’ve feasted on as much food as you wanted.

Would I go again? Definitely. It was fantastic to sample and eat so much food and the experience overall really blew me away. Looking forward to it next year!
