There’s a really spectacular post over at Fast Co. about how the infamous Aeron Chair from Herman Miller was born. With incredible risk and a relatively unknown backstory of beginning with designing a chair for the elderly, the Aeron went on to become a symbol of power and wealth for many offices in the 90s and 2000s before the dot com bust.

The designed spanned over 10 years’ time and was headed up primarily by BillĀ Stumpf and Don Chadwick. But it took a while to come to the design we immediately recall in our heads when we hear “Aeron”.
