It’s nice to have 4 siblings. Why? Well, for one thing, you don’t have to actually get friends together to run new group-related apps. My siblings and I seriously just put the new Google Hangouts app through its paces and we’ve already come to some conclusions about it.

For one, it’s awesome. Much better than a standard Google Chat app and it’s just nice overall that we can let Google do its Google-y thing and keep all of our chats in the same place.

What’s confusing though is that the Hangouts don’t quite act like chats. You can’t jump from a Google Hangout on your phone to the same Hangout on your computer (or vice versa) and overall there seems to be some significant bugs with the app (like having non-group Hangouts show up as Hangout histories in Gmail) — but that’s expected with a first public release.

There’s more that we found a little weird about it, but I really don’t want to go into it now. Just know that it ain’t perfect but it’s a good start. If you’re a huge Hangout person though, this app is a must-download. Get it.
