Gizmodo posted this odd illusion of water being frozen in air in real-time video. It turns out the trick is simply based on a tube of flowing water being vibrated by a speaker at the exact frequency that the DSLR video framerate is being recorded. Pretty neat video!

The Flowing City Coaster is a fun drink coaster that uses the falling condensation from your cup to create little tiny rivers within a city grid. They’re not the cheapest of coasters you can get ($12 for a set of 2), but they do serve as a great conversation piece over coffee or tea. [via]
